Donation updates - what we need and what we have

posted over 1 year ago by Astoria Recovers Admin

UPDATE St. Jacobi Church says NO MORE CLOTHES - What is needed now is flashlights - anything that creates light - and non-perishable food.

Hello everyone and thank you for your continued outpouring of support for our neighbors in the Rockaways. We still need all of the items listed in the previous updates and on InterOccupy- Rockaways; however, we have specific requests for the following items:

coats, individually prepackaged snack food, i.e. 100 calorie packs, juices, drinks, snack packs - nothing that has to be heated up or cooked, flashlights, batteries, lanterns, cooking supplies - plates, forks, knives, toiletries, feminine products, diapers, towels and blankets, tarps, cleaning supplies

If you have a car and are willing to transport items to the Rockaways now, please contact Pam, Neha or Leni directly.

We are in the process of setting up a rideshare site, as volunteers are needed on-site in the Rockaways. Please contact us if you can help transport people.

  • Word from St Francis de Sales church in Belle Harbor is that they need underwear (men's and women's), hygiene products and diapers, and anything that would be useful cleaning basements (i.e. flashlights/batteries, construction masks, construction bags, etc). They're pretty inundated with clothes.

American Legion in Broad Channel is definitely not taking any more clothes.
